SEI Uses DOD Aperture Cards

This is Ron holding a stack of Department of Defense M14 Aperture Cards (Microfiche) with all of the original prints of the different M14 parts. At SEI, we have the highest standard of excellence for our products. We have a print of every nut, screw and bolt for the M14, up to and including the stock print. Smith Enterprise, as far as we know, is the only one in the country with a set of these type of prints. This is what we use. Most people don't realize just how rare and coveted these cards are. We want our customers to know. We don't reverse engineer anything, nor do we use copies of copies of DoD prints. Our customers can rest assured that we only use the real deal for our M14 parts.

Andy Horton (master armorer and former infantryman)
Jack Rosfeld (armorer and former combat medic)

The new and improved quick disconnect bipod will be there.  The material has been changed to give it more durability and longevity.  The design has been tweaked for optimum weight and functionality.  Note: the 82nd Airborne (1-505th) will be placing an order for this bipod now that it passed a 30 day field test at Fort Bragg, NC.

The G6A3 Vortex flash hider will be on display for the first time at a Shot Show.

Smith Enterprise encourages everyone to come to the booth to talk M14, AR15, AR10, sound suppressors, muzzle brakes, and flash hiders.

SEI Uses Epoxy Mounts for Recievers Setting Industry Standard

Here is an email from Jack (an SEI employee) to Anthony from Croc's Gun Shop.  It is pretty enlightening to see this one of many industry standards that SEI has started.

Anthony,

I was able to get some pictures done and edited for you to send out in your newsletter.

These are the cross sections of our receiver parts mounted in epoxy. These are samples that were done form last year’s batch. These mounts check the accuracy of our case depth and core hardness. There is no industry SOP as to when or how often this should be done, it is determined by Ron. Since perfecting the heat treatment process on his receivers in 1985, Ron has periodically sent out receivers from several different batches to get tested, just to assure that they have been staying within his heat treating guidelines. Ron doesn’t think that there is any other manufacturer out there that goes to the same lengths of quality control for their heat treatment. Material 8620 is very predictable in heat treat. The heat treat processes for the M14 in 1957 were far different than they are today, due in large to EPA restrictions. We have found that on de-milled M14 Receivers, that core hardness is as high as 45, which is extreme, with case depth as much as .0020. With today’s technology, it is much easier to control and predict the outcome of a heat treat on a given material than it was back then. We know that the USGI M14 Receiver when de-milled, were sometimes hit on the op-rod side middle with some type of hammer blow which broke them. The receiver would withstand a great deal of compression, but lateral strikes could not be tolerated very well.

SEI Gives $2,000 to Secret Witness to Help Catch Wild Mustang Murderers

As reported on our Facebook page, SEI was made aware of a certain poacher near Carson City, NV who killed two or more wild mustangs just for the sport of it.  Shooting these beautiful animals is cruel and attacks at the very heart of what makes Nevada a beautiful state.

In response to the outrage we felt, Ron Smith and Sonja decided to give $2,000 to Secret Witness, whose primary function is to catch and prosecute people who hurt wild mustangs.

Ron wanted to make clear to everyone he does not want credit for this.  The reason he is posted it is to encourage others to give to Secret Witness if they are as upset about these murders as he is.

To give to Secret Witness to bring these poachers to justice, you can go to their website and make a donation.  If you email them and say you are donating and that you want to bring these poachers to justice it will give them more feedback to help our cause.  Thanks a lot.

Lawsuit Update - SEI's Response to Motion to Dismiss

Here is an update on our lawsuit against the person who posted unsubstantiated lies about our products.  You will notice some good info about our side of the story in this response to the plaintiff's Motion to Dismiss.  There 95 good pages that are worth looking through if you have the time.  SEI stands by our products and won't let individuals blatantly lie about them.

M14 Receiver Update

This is just a peek at what we are up to.  Notice the bar stock in the steel tub - that is what we start with to make receivers.  That is why it takes a long time to get these built.  We make our receivers from bar stock, which no one else is doing for M14s (to our knowledge).  Notice the two receivers with larger thread gauges.  One is for pre heat treat and the other is for post heat treat.  We are the only company with these type of gauges for this process.

Thanks for sticking with us as we get all these M14 receivers built.  We are making great progress.

Product Disparagement Update from Croc

Below is a response our M14 receiver dealer (Croc's Gun Shop) put out to one of its customers who canceled their M14 receiver order due to a recent lawsuit filed by SEI against a gentleman for product disparagement.  We think it is a pretty well-written letter worth sharing and reading.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for the honest reply.

It is unfortunate that you make this decision without having all of the facts/information on the matter. The story you get on the forums is biased, half the story at best and represents an emotional and less than factual view of what has and is really happening. Smith Enterprise Inc. has a right to protect their good name against product disparagement. This is an unfair business practice and can be detrimental to a small business. The heat treatment issue remarks at the center of this matter are false, misleading and damaging. Our business is being damaged incrementally by people such as yourself who believe without any consideration whatsoever that everything that they read on the forums is true and posted by sane people. Take for example your cancellation and your reasons for doing so. You have been unduly influenced by the emotionalism and the irrational comments that are being made on and around this matter.

The comments that are made online in most cases are not factual and are frivolous in nature. They range from absurd arguments about the freedom of speech to personal attacks on the character of Ron Smith and or his employees. What you must remember is that Smith Enterprise Inc. is a leader in product development, they make a fine line of exceptional, high quality products and that these facts have not changed. Their reputation for quality and their expertise is what you relied on when making your decision to purchase one of their receivers from our company.

Our Congress has seen fit to regulate product disparagement and to make the person(s) engaging in product disparagement responsible for their actions and the losses caused by their disparagement. This protection is based upon fairness, ethics and good legal principles, it is afforded to all citizens equally. You need to recognize that Smith Enterprise Inc. has a right to protect themselves from this form of unfair and reckless behavior as it is their reputation and livelihood that is being harmed. Our company is also suffering continued losses because of the comments that were made and your cancellation request is just another one of those losses. The person who made these disparaging statements online has been given every opportunity to retract their false statements to date, to admit that they were false or expose their source of false information. All without having to make good on any of the financial damages that they have caused so far. Smith Enterprise Inc. from the beginning of this matter has offered an easy and respectable way out of this situation that would have ended the matter promptly.

If you were or are a small businessman I believe you should be able to understand that damage to a reputation and financial losses are difficult if not impossible to absorb and that to tolerate this form of reckless indifference to our businesses and the families that we support is not something that should be taken lightly or left unattended.

You should stand with Smith Enterprise in this matter instead of supporting the irrational notions of a very small handful of people who it would seem believe mistakenly in some self concocted Right to cause damage to others without any responsibility taken. Please reconsider this matter.

Kind regards,
Anthony

Press Release: Smith Enterprise Releases a New .50 Cal Flash Hider for M2A1

Tempe, AZ

Smith Enterprise designed a Vortex Flash Hider for General Dynamics several years ago for their improved .50 Cal Flash Hider project they were trying to win from the US Army.  Even though General Dynamics liked the SEI Vortex flash hider, they ended up making their own version of the old Smith Enterprise straight flute design.  The General Dynamic’s straight flute version is inferior to the Vortex because it did not have helical flutes which is a patented technology owned by SEI that blocks up to 98% of the flash.

SEI then got a call from 1SG Michael Onstine from the 82nd Airborne and he wanted to try Vortex on his unit's M2A1 Quick Change .50 Cal machine guns.  So Smith Enterprise designed a Vortex that will screw on the threaded .50 Cal, replacing the General Dynamics M2A1 flash hider.  SEI even added its famous skull logo that is seen on so many other of its products.

The soldiers of the 82nd Airborne will be testing the new Smith Enterprise M2A1 .50 Cal Vortex Flash Hider on 9 October, 2013.  SEI will post the review and results when they come in.

In case you missed it, SEI rebuilt some sound suppressors for 1SG Onstine's unit previously.  1SG Onstine is a silver star recipient and a very knowledgeable veteran of overseas combat.

Smith Enterprise Awarded Contract for 400 Vortexes for the Navy Seals

Tempe, AZ

Smith Enterprise received a purchase order from the Navy Seals for 400 each of their premium Vortex Flash Hiders for the MK48 Machine Gun.  The MK48 Vortex is Sound Suppressor capable and blocks over 95% of the flash.  The version of the Vortex purchased by the Navy Seals is the G6A3 flash hider that includes the new external ten-pitch radial bottom helical grooves, which aid in the easy removal of the Wind Talker Sound Suppressor.

The contract (H92240-13-P-0250) awarded was the first contract award after many years of rigorous testing of the MK48 Vortex Flash Hider by Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center.  Crane was so impressed with the MK48, it awarded Smith Enterprise a National Stock Number (1005-01-600-8577) and also safety certified the device.  Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center is the contracting division for the Navy Seals.

Crane’s original intent was to approve the best flash hider that will later be used as a mounting platform for Smith Enterprise MK48 Wind Talker Sound Suppressor.  Smith Enterprise previously bid on a Sound Suppressor solicitation for the MK48 in 2010 and was beat by FN, who has no Sound Suppressor experience.  FN has yet to produce its first Sound Suppressor for the Navy and is still attempting to make an integral barrel Sound Suppressor – something that the military has tried to make for decades without success.  Smith Enterprise is hopeful that the Navy Seals see the value in Smith’s products and will follow up with a Sound Suppressor purchase order.  The Smith Enterprise Sound Suppressor for the MK48 is complete with testing and is ready for delivery.

Smith Enterprise also makes a Blank Firing Adapter for the MK48 Machine Gun, which is a unique advantage for the Navy Seals should they want to train with blanks.

The Flash Hiders, Sound Suppressors, and BFAs can all be purchased on GSA Schedule GS-07F-0144X.

Smith Enterprise Upgrades Battle-Worn Sound Suppressors for Silver Star Recipient in the 82nd Airborne

Smith Enterprise Wind Talker Sound Suppressors
Tempe, AZ

Smith Enterprise, Inc received a phone call from Silver Star recipient 1SG Michael Onstine of the 2-505th PIR (Parachute Infantry Regiment) in June of this year.  He told Smith Enterprise, Inc. that he had in his possession some battle-worn Wind Talker Sound Suppressors made by Smith Enterprise from 2004 and wondered if there was anything Smith Enterprise could do to help clean them up.  Not only did Smith Enterprise clean them up, but they replaced all of the baffles inside with the new SEI Cone Baffle system as well as replace the coupler, the end cap, and the Vortex flash hider it mounts on.  Smith also gave the suppressors a new paint job to MILSPEC standards.

The only thing remaining on the original Sound Suppressor was the tube itself.  Everything else got replaced.  1SG Onstine and his men were pleased to have the four Sound Suppressor back in mint condition with the latest upgrades.

The Sound Suppressors were originally sent to the 2nd Infantry Division (2 ID) in Korea back in 2004.  At that time the 2 ID ordered a total of 110 M14 Wind Talker Sound Suppressors along with 110 of Smith’s M14 Crazy Horse upgrade kit which consisted of Smith Vortex Flash Hiders, mounts, rails, bipods, scope rings, gas lock front sites, upgraded heat treated barrels, extended bolt stop, and a long list of other parts.  Right after the upgraded Crazy Horse rifles arrived in Korea, the 2 ID deployed to Iraq.  Those suppressors stayed in Iraq transferring from unit to unit until the 2-505th PIR redeployed this past year.  That is when Smith got the call from 1SG Onstine with the 2-505th.

The 2-505th PIR is part of the elite 82nd Airborne Division out of Fort Bragg, NC.  The 82nd Airborne is one of the main light infantry divisions in the US Army with an ongoing mission to rapidly deploy anywhere in the world at a moment’s notice.  The 82nd Airborne also conducts rotations overseas as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  It was during one of these rotations where 1SG Onstine received the Silver Star.  1SG Onstine received the Silver Star for valor during Operation RUSTUM as part of Operation IRAQ FREEDOM near Baghdad, Iraq in 2007.  1SG Onstine braved through multiple fire fights while severely wounded ensuring his men got out safely before he allowed himself to be evacuated.  He also acted bravely and selflessly multiple times to ensure his platoon escaped against overwhelming enemy numbers.  You can read more about 1SG Onstine here at MilitaryTimes.com.

When Ron Smith, President of Smith Enterprise was asked about this he stated, “This is a no brainer.  For what 1SG Onstine did for his men and this country, the LEAST we could do was get their suppressors upgraded for them.  These Sound Suppressors they have are quite the find.  Imagine how many battles they went through over the last 9 years?  There must have easily been tens of thousands of rounds fired through them and many of fine fighting men must have taken these suppressors on and off their rifles over the years.  They were in as good a shape as when we first sent them off, just needed to have the carbon cleaned off.  We wanted 1SG and his men to have our new light weight coupler, our new baffles, our new end cap, and our new Vortex.  We want these heroes to have the best we have to offer them.”

Smith Enterprise currently sells the Wind Talker Sound Suppressor to both the military and civilian markets.  Smith Enterprise also sells the Vortex Flash Hider, the Good Iron Muzzle Brake, M14 Accessories, AR15 Wrench, and several other weapon accessories and upgrades.

Smith Enterprise Releases an Improved Flash Hider Model for the M14

M14 Flash Hider

Smith Enterprise is rolling out with a new M14 flash hider model called the G6A3 M14 Vortex Flash Hider.  The flash hider consists of an external thread designed to mitigate carbon buildup when a Wind Talker sound suppressor is installed.  With these new external flash hider threads, the user can easily unscrew the Wind Talker sound suppressor with ease – even after thousands of rounds have been fired.

While Smith Enterprise already makes an AR15 flash hider with an external thread feature for its AR15 flash hider model (also compatible with the M16 and M4).  Applying this flash hider technology to the M14 is the next step.  Smith Enterprise is the leading provider of M14 upgrades in the country, and a quick search on Google shows that Smith Enterprise makes the best flash hider.  Smith Enterprise makes mounts, bipods, scope rings, flash hiders, muzzle brakes, sound suppressors, slings, front sights, rear sights, trigger assemblies, cheek pads, bolt stops, and several other premium parts for theM14.

When Ron Smith was asked about this new product, he stated: “This is just the beginning.  We have many more innovations to come.  We have new technologies for flash hiders, sound suppressors, and other accessories.  This M14 improvement is important right now because so many people are interested in M14s and we want to take care of our customers.”

Smith Enterprise also rebuilds M14 rifles into the “M14Crazy Horse”.  The upgrade features a multitude of changes and upgrades making an already good rifle into a premium collector’s item that is very accurate and lasts a lifetime.  The new Crazy Horse builds will include the G6A3 M14 Vortex Flash Hider model.  Customers can still select the old G6A2 model if they prefer.

Smith Enterprise will extend this new G6A3 external thread flash hider technology to all its Vortex flash hider models eventually, but not until they are ready for release.

Smith Enterprise Stands with the Law Abiding Citizens of New Jersey Against Gov Christie's Gun Control Laws

Smith Enterprise has been halting sales of Smith’s products to state and local law enforcement agencies in states pushing for unconstitutional firearms laws such as New York, Connecticut, Colorado, California and Maryland. The latest is the State of New Jersey which has at least 20 anti-gun proposals floating through both houses of the State Legislature. The 21 bills raised in the House are now in the Senate where they may be passed into law as part of Governor Christie's "50 common sense gun restrictions"..

Smith Enterprise will not support the so-called law makers who are rolling out these measures and if enacted will cease selling their products to law enforcement and government agencies based in New Jersey.

SEI's President had this to say: "Once again another Anti-Gun State Government has decided that their current draconian gun laws are not restrictive enough and is trying to further encroach on the Second Amendment rights of its citizens. These laws do not prevent crime as they only affect the law-abiding gun owner and not the common criminal. Witness the two terrorists that wreaked havoc on Boston last week: they did not have the required state and local permits for the firearms they used to attack police officers after they were found out and were fleeing. The only thing the gun grabbers can come up with are more laws to give an illusion that they are doing something.

New Jersey is looking to outlaw 50 caliber rifles, which are not used in crime, but by target shooters. They want to outlaw most standard types of ammunition. If these bills pass both houses of the Garden State's legislature and are signed into law by Governor Chris Christie, then New Jersey state agencies can add themselves to the list of rogue states that will not be allowed to purchase parts from Smith Enterprise."

In February, the New Jersey State Assembly passed 21 pieces of anti-gun legislation that are now in the state Senate and can be heard at any time.

Below are brief descriptions of these anti-gun bills passed in the New Jersey State Assembly:

Assembly Bill 588 (Spencer / Coutinho / Deignan) – prohibits possession of commonly owned ammunition.
Assembly Bill 1116 (Fuentes / Spencer) – establishes 180-day prohibition on purchase of handgun for individuals who fail to report loss or theft of firearm.
Assembly Bill 1329 (Greenwald / Quijano / Coutinho) – reduces the maximum capacity of ammunition magazines to ten rounds.
Assembly Bill 1387 (Wilson / Johnson) – permits municipalities to establish “weapon free zones” around schools and other public facilities.
Assembly Bill 3510 (Johnson / Vainieri Huttle) – requires proof of firearms safety training as a condition for issuance of firearms purchaser identification cards and permits to purchase handguns.
Assembly Bill 3645 (Greenwald / Eustace / Mosquera) - requires ammunition sales and transfers be conducted as face-to-face transactions.
Assembly Bill 3646 (Greenwald) - establishes a regulatory system to govern the sale and transfer of ammunition.
Assembly Bill 3659 (Barnes, III / Johnson) - revises the state's definition of a destructive device to include certain firearms of 50 caliber or greater.
Assembly Bill 3666 (Cryan / O’Donnell / Jasey) - prohibits mail order, internet, telephone and any other anonymous method of ammunition sale or transfer in New Jersey.
Assembly Bill 3668 (Jasey / McKeon / Cryan) - prohibits investment by state pension and annuity funds in companies manufacturing, importing and selling “assault firearms” for civilian use.
Assembly Bill 3687 (Stender / Fuentes) - disqualifies persons named on federal Terrorist Watchlist from obtaining a state firearms identification card or permit to purchase handgun.
Assembly Bill 3717 (Lampitt / Singleton) - requires submission of certain mental health records to National Instant Criminal Background Check System.
Assembly Bill 3748 (O’Donnell / Mainor / McKeon) – outlaws the private sale or transfer of firearms.
Assembly Bill 3750 (Cryan / O’Donnell / Quijano) - establishes a regulatory and reporting program for all ammunition sales.
Assembly Bill 3754 (Cryan / O’Donnell / Quijano) - requires the seizure of firearms when mental health professional determines patient poses threat of harm to self or others.
Assembly Bill 3772 (Eustace / Wagner / Vanieri Huttle) - requires that firearms purchaser identification cards display picture and mandates that firearms purchaser identification cards be renewed every five years.
Assembly Bill 3796 (Mainor) – provides a ninety-day window for persons to dispose of certain unlawfully possessed firearms.
Assembly Bill 3797 (Mainor) – requires law enforcement to report certain firearms information to inter-jurisdictional electronic databases including the national Integrated Ballistics Identification Network.
Assembly Committee Resolution 180 (Greenwald) – urges the President and the US Congress to enact legislation enforcing stricter firearms control measures.
Assembly Bill R143 (Quijano / Cryan / O’Donnell) - expresses support for Attorney General's gun “buyback” program.
Assembly Bill R144 (Oliver) – urges Governor Christie’s Administration not to apply for annual exemption from requirements of federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008.

Beretta USA to Leave Maryland, Smith Enterprise Cuts Off State Agencies and Law Enforcement to Side with the People

Smith Enterprise has been stopping the sales of Smith’s products to state and local law enforcement agencies in states pushing for unconstitutional firearms laws such as New York, Connecticut, Colorado and California. The latest is the State of Maryland whose proposed laws not only threaten the liberty of their citizens, but the livelihoods of over 400 workers from Beretta USA.

Effective immediately, Smith Enterprise will no longer sell any products to state and local law enforcement agencies located in Maryland.

Ron Smith, the President of Smith Enterprise said today,"Make no mistake about it, the gun grabbers are declaring war on the law-abiding. We will not run from this fight, we will not retreat. We stand beside Beretta in this fight and will not make our products available to agencies employed by the enemies of all we hold dear. I sincerely hope that more people will lend support to Beretta when they make their move out of Maryland by buying their products and making these politicians pay for their actions in the next election cycle.”

The US division of the world’s oldest gun manufacturer (in business since 1526) is considering moving its Maryland manufacturing plant and roughly 400 jobs out of the state in light of legislation passed on Thursday night.

In a 28-19 vote, Maryland's Senate gave final approval to Governor Martin O'Malley's sweeping gun control bill, sending the legislation to the governor for his promised signature.

State House minority leader Anthony J. O’Donnel (R) said,“We are pushing a legitimate manufacturer and good neighbor out of Maryland. Losing them would be a big disappointment. Maryland has a reputation for having a horrible business climate, and this would be one more nail in the coffin.”

The legislation bans the sale of so-called assault weapons (used in less than 1 percent of Maryland homicides since 2004), requires fingerprints and a license to buy a handgun, empowers state police to audit gun dealers and limits magazine capacity to 10 rounds, mirroring the regimes of New York, California and Connecticut. Other provisions of this bill would bar gun ownership for people convicted of certain violent crimes but given probation before judgment and increase the amount of information about people with mental illnesses sent to a national database for background checks.

Opponents have vowed to petition the bill to referendum. If they are successful, the law would be delayed for a year and be on the ballot for Maryland voters to consider in November 2014.

Before the vote, Sen. Nathaniel McFadden,(D-Baltimore), demonized the state's law-abiding that authorities would crack down on them.

"Wherever you are, especially if you are in the city of Baltimore, please don't have a comfort level," McFadden said. "We're coming to get you."

Smith's response was,"The audacity and brazenness of these politicians is repugnant. They turn their citizens into potential criminals with the stroke of a pen and then issue threats like this. You can 'come for them', but you will not use our products to do it.”

Once signed, the law takes effect on October 1, 2013. Gun dealers would be allowed to sell their existing inventory of the 45 makes and models of banned so-called assault weapons. Residents of Maryland who place an order before that date would still be able to purchase them.

Smith Enterprise Pulls the Plug on Conn. Law Enforcement to Support Colt

Smith Enterprise has been taking a hard line against states pushing for new gun control laws by stopping the sales of Smith’s products to state and local law enforcement agencies in those states. It began with law enforcement agencies based in New York State due to the so-called "SAFE Act". This same policy was placed against state and local agencies in Colorado and California for similar reasons. Today the hammer is dropping on the State of Connecticut whose proposed laws not only threaten the liberty of their citizens, but the livelihoods of over 700 workers from Colt's Manufacturing Company, LLC located in the ironically named "Constitution State".

Effective immediately, Smith Enterprise is stopping the sales of its products to state and local law enforcement agencies within the State of Connecticut.

President of Smith Enterprise, Ron Smith said today, “Samuel Colt must be rolling over in his grave. While the Sandy Hook shooting in Newtown, Connecticut was tragic, the problem was not law-abiding gun owners, but a deranged individual. Like California, New York and Colorado, Connecticut seeks to punish only the law-abiding citizen. These laws are symbolism over substance and will do nothing to prevent another mass-shooting, let alone halt street crime.

"Smith's products will not be made available to any law enforcement agency at the state or local level in any state that seeks to trump the US Constitution. Colt's Manufacturing has been one of our most loyal customers for many years. As we said with regard to Magpul leaving Colorado for similar reasons, we do not leave our fallen comrades on the battlefield. We have Colt’s back and hope they find a more welcoming home for their new operation. I hope more people support them by buying their products and making Connecticut’s anti-gun politicians pay for this at the ballot box.”

In the history of American firearms development, there is perhaps no name more iconic than that of Samuel Colt. Colt's genius in both inventing and marketing his firearms propelled his home state of Connecticut into a major center for manufacturing throughout much of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Colt's firearms made in Hartford, Connecticut, have played a prominent role throughout the world from the US Civil War to the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Nearly every museum in the State of Connecticut has a display dedicated to either the company which made Hartford its base of operations for 175 years or its founder: Samuel Colt.

Unfortunately, Connecticut no longer seems to have room for its most famous native-son or his company which is directly responsible for $1.7 billion to the state's annual economy. Proposed laws being debated by the Legislature and pushed by Governor Dannel Malloy include a new gun owner registry, restrictions on commonly used rifle ammunition, a magazine ban, an expanded assault weapons ban and restrictions on the amount of ammunition that may be purchased at one time.

Current President and CEO of Colt's, Dennis Veilleux has stated that the company may be looking to relocate if these laws come to fruition. Veilleux recently wrote in an Op-Ed piece for the Hartford Courant: “At some point, if you can’t sell your products … then you can’t run your business. You need customers to buy your products to stay in business. The fact is bans don't work. We tried to ban alcohol nearly 100 years ago, which just drove a regulated activity underground. I know one thing that the governor's proposed ban will do: It will irreparably damage — if not destroy — the brand of any Connecticut firearms manufacturer."

The measures that recently passed Connecticut’s Public Safety and Security Committee in the State Senate are as follows:

  • SB 506 – Criminalizes the private transfer of any firearm.
  • SB 710 – Gives the local authority the ability to decide whether or not to grant a permit for a gun show and establishes a permitting process.
  • SB 897 – Requires the purchaser of a firearm to provide their birth date and place of birth at the time of delivery and eliminates the temporary eligibility certificate for a pistol or a revolver.
When asked if any of the proposed legislation would have stopped the Sandy Hook shooting, Smith said, “None of these laws would have prevented the Newtown shooter from murdering his mother and stealing her lawfully registered firearms. The simple fact that continues to elude the anti-gunners is that criminals do not obey laws. That is why they are criminals.”

The Connecticut legislature needs to know that this infringement upon the rights of its law-abiding citizens needs to end.

Concerned citizens can write their representatives here urging them to OPPOSE the anti-gun bills listed above.

Until Connecticut's governor gets the hint that restricting the rights of the law-abiding is a direct assault on 2nd Amendment Freedom, Smith Enterprise will be forced to apply the laws he passes to all government agencies in Connecticut.

Smith Enterprise is committed to standing up for Colt's Manufacturing Company, LLC and the people of Connecticut.
